Texana Tours is owned and operated by Richard Cook

Richard is a Certified Professional Tour Guide and is the current Past President of the Professional Tour Guide Association of Houston.

When you are in Houston, East Texas, Central Texas or anywhere is Texas and you need a guide, we have just the man the man for you.   Richard Cook is a fourth generation Texan and knows Houston, Texas, Texas History, and Texas Oil History.    He was born in Houston within sight of the famous Sam Houston Statue in Herman Park, went to college at Stephen F. Austin State University in historic Nacogdoches within sight of the Old Stone Fort.   Richard has been walking in the shadows of Texas history all his life.   He has been going on field trips to all these sites since the third grade.   He can take you to the actual sites where Texas History happened,  the San Jacinto Battleground,  Sam Houston's Homes and Gravesite in Huntsville,  The Old Stone Fort in Nacogdoches,  Washington on the Brazos with Independence Hall,   Goliad and the Presidio, and the most visited Shrine, The Alamo.    Many have said that Richard is so good at this, that if you listen closely to him and look where he is pointing, you too might see them, .........he claims he can.......

Richard can also take you to the original sites of some of the most famous oil wells in Texas oil history.  How about going to see the actual site of Spindletop.....walk around the old salt dome that now is a lake, and visit the replica BoomTown, Glady's City.   See the site of the first oil well in Oil Springs outside of Nacogdoches.   Walk on the edge of the "Big Thicket" near the SourLake Oilfield,  drive down the road near where the Daisy Bradford Discovery Well gushed to start the Last Boom in East Texas.

Whatever your interest, Richard can design a personal tour for one or a group.  He will treat you like a long lost cousin from "out of town."
