The "Washington on the Brazos Tour" is a great way to see early colonial Texas.
A short drive from Houston, we can arrange a great day trip to one of the most historic of all Texas sites. Our tour will first take you to the Washington on the Brazos State Park. We will tour the "Star of Republic Museum" and visit the information center and gift shop. We will also walk the grounds of the park and visit the Replica of the Schoolhouse, built in 1936 on the foundation of the original schoolhouse. We will also walk the only street of Washington to the river and see where the ferry operated.

Barrington Living History Farm
Also located at the park is one of the premier living history farms in Texas. Known as the Barrington Living History Farm, it is an excellent presentation of a 1850's Texas pioneer farm. You will see how the early settlers in Texas were able to scratch out a living in their beautiful new Texas home. As you walk among the buildings that include the home of the last President of the Republic of Texas, Anson Jones, you will not be able to see anything modern from the farm except an occasional jet trail from a plane overhead. A truly unique experience.
Our last stop for the day will be on our return trip to Houston. We will stop in the nearby town of Navasota, Texas. We will see something oddly Texan. We will see a life size statue of a famous French Explorer, René-Robert Cavelier, Sieur de La Salle. Why do we see a statue of La Salle in a small Texas town?
La Salle Statue The answer is that the statue is marking the spot where he meet his death. La Salle is the reason that there is a French flag in the "Six Flags of Texas" ( you do know your Six Flags of Texas don't you, it is not just an amusement park in Arlington). Check out our brief history of La Salle button and learn more. It is a great statue and a great story.
